Typical scopes of work

Supplying full-vision aluminium sections for a vehicle workshop door so technicians get daylight without opening the door.
Supplying sectional doors in a RAL colour matched to the existing cladding as part of a unit refurbishment between tenants.
Converting a manual chain-operated sectional door to electric operation with a shaft-mounted motor, safety edge and photocells.

Who is responsible for door safety at a site in Gorseinon?

In Wales, two sets of duties meet at a powered door. The installer who supplies or motorises it must hand over a door that meets the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008, tested against BS EN 12453 and documented. The business in control of the premises must then maintain it: regulation 5 of the Workplace Regulations 1992 covers maintenance, and regulation 18 requires upward-opening doors to have a device that stops them falling back and powered doors to have features that prevent trapping.

Access, phasing and timing

For busy sites in West Glamorgan the work can be split across visits — preparation and framing first, door installation and commissioning second — so the opening is only out of action for the shortest time.

Questions from businesses in Gorseinon

Can you replace a roller shutter with a sectional door at our Gorseinon unit?

Usually, yes, provided there is enough headroom and side room for the tracks. Low-headroom track kits cover many older units. We check this on the survey and include strip-out and making good in the quote.

Do you survey sites in Gorseinon before quoting?

Yes. Surveys for new and replacement doors are free. We measure the opening, headroom and obstructions, check the fixings and power supply, and discuss how the door will be used before we price it.

Which safety devices does a powered sectional door in Gorseinon need?

That comes from the risk assessment for your site, but typically a safety edge or light curtain, spring-break and cable-break protection and limited closing forces tested to BS EN 12453. Busy pedestrian routes may call for more.
