What to specify
- No headroom needed. Leaves move sideways, so nothing coils above or runs under the roof.
- Electric operation. Motorised leaves with the safety devices needed to protect against crushing and shearing.
- Wicket doors. A personnel door within a leaf saves sliding the main door for every visit.
- Robust build. Steel frames carry cladding to suit the building, from profiled steel to timber boarding.
- Insulated options. Leaves can be filled with insulated panels and sealed along their edges to cut heat loss.
Jobs we can carry out
- Replacing a damaged floor rail and guide wheels on a bottom-rolling door struck by a vehicle.
- Automating a pair of heavy bi-parting sliding doors with a drive motor, safety edges and photocells.
- Renewing seized trolleys and a distorted overhead track on large sliding doors to a vehicle shed.
Powered door rules that apply in Rawtenstall
Rawtenstall is in England, where powered industrial doors fall under Great Britain's health and safety law. Whoever makes a door powered — including converting a manual door — usually takes on the manufacturer's duties under the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008: risk assessment, technical file, conformity marking and a Declaration of Conformity. Once it is in use, the employer or occupier must keep it safe under the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998.
How the work is organised
Where a door is being replaced, the opening has to be made secure at the end of each day. We plan strip-out, any new framing and the new door so the gap is never left open overnight unless you have agreed temporary measures.

Your questions about sliding and folding industrial doors
Which is better for our Rawtenstall site, top-hung or bottom-rolling?
Top-hung keeps the floor flush but needs a strong structure overhead. Bottom-rolling suits lighter buildings but needs a clean, protected floor rail. We recommend one after checking both on survey.
How much do sliding or folding industrial doors cost in Rawtenstall?
Our guide price is £5,995 to £24,995 ex VAT, supplied and fitted, depending on size, number of leaves, infill and whether the doors are manual or electric. After a free survey in Rawtenstall we confirm the fixed price in writing.
How long does it take to fit sliding doors in Rawtenstall?
A pair of manual sliding doors on a sound structure is usually fitted in a day or two. Large folding doors, electric operation and new steelwork add time, which we set out with your quote.
