Options for sliding and folding industrial doors in Smethwick

Electric operation. Motorised leaves with the safety devices needed to protect against crushing and shearing.
Wicket doors. A personnel door within a leaf saves sliding the main door for every visit.
Folding leaves. Bi-folding leaves stack neatly where side wall space is limited.
No headroom needed. With side-opening leaves, cranes, lights and services overhead stay clear.
Robust build. Steel-framed leaves with steel, panel or timber cladding.

What this work can involve

Fitting bi-folding doors to a maintenance workshop where overhead gantry cranes rule out a roller shutter or sectional door.
Automating a pair of heavy bi-parting sliding doors with a drive motor, safety edges and photocells.
Installing telescopic sliding doors where the wall space to one side is limited by an adjoining structure.

Powered door rules that apply in Smethwick

Smethwick is in England, where powered industrial doors fall under Great Britain's health and safety law. Whoever makes a door powered — including converting a manual door — usually takes on the manufacturer's duties under the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008: risk assessment, technical file, conformity marking and a Declaration of Conformity. Once it is in use, the employer or occupier must keep it safe under the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998.

Access, phasing and timing

Electrical work is the part that most often delays a job. If a new or converted door needs a supply, we confirm the motor's requirement at quote stage so your electrician can provide an isolator in the right place before installation day.

Sliding and folding industrial doors in Smethwick: your questions

Which is better for our Smethwick site, top-hung or bottom-rolling?

Top-hung keeps the floor flush but needs a strong structure overhead. Bottom-rolling suits lighter buildings but needs a clean, protected floor rail. We recommend one after checking both on survey.

Do you repair sliding and folding doors in Smethwick?

Yes. We replace trolleys, wheels, tracks, guides and damaged cladding on most makes of sliding and folding door. Repair visits are chargeable, and we quote before carrying out larger repairs or recommending replacement.

Will a sliding door fit our building in Smethwick?

It needs wall space to the side for the leaves to slide past, or room for folded leaves to stack. We measure this on survey and choose between sliding, telescopic and folding layouts to suit what is there.
