Options that matter on site
- Security options. Hinge bolts, multi-point locks and LPS 1175 rated doorsets.
- Fire-rated doorsets. Fire-resisting steel doors with the manufacturer's test evidence, fitted to its instructions.
- Panic hardware. Push bars to BS EN 1125 where the public or unfamiliar people may use the exit.
- Outside access. Staff can get in from outside with a key or code, but the exit always opens freely from inside.
- Emergency devices. Lever or push-pad devices to BS EN 179 for exits used by trained staff.
What this work can involve
- Fitting a louvred double steel door to a plant room or electrical switch room to keep it ventilated and secure.
- Replacing a rotted timber fire exit door with a galvanised steel doorset and a BS EN 1125 panic bar.
- Supplying 60-minute fire-resisting steel doorsets for the compartment walls set out in a building's fire strategy.
Which workplace rules apply to these doors?
For premises in Staffordshire, the Workplace Regulations 1992 set the basics: doors suitably constructed, swing doors giving a clear view through when closed, and maintenance under regulation 5. Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, an emergency exit door must open easily in the direction of travel and must not be locked or fastened so it cannot be opened immediately in an emergency.
Access, phasing and timing
Sites in and around Staffordshire vary from tight trade counters to large distribution yards. The survey records access for our vehicle and platform, overhead obstructions and floor condition so the installation day runs without surprises.

Your questions about steel personnel and fire exit doors
How much is a steel personnel door in Staffordshire?
Our guide price is £845 to £1,795 ex VAT for a single steel personnel door, or £1,095 to £2,395 for a steel fire exit door with panic hardware, supplied and fitted. We confirm the fixed price for your Staffordshire premises in writing after a free survey.
Which fire exit hardware do we need at our Staffordshire site?
If members of the public or people unfamiliar with the exit may use it, panic hardware to BS EN 1125 is normally required. Exits used only by trained staff who know the door can use emergency devices to BS EN 179. If in doubt, choose BS EN 1125.
Do you repair fire exit doors across the West Midlands?
Yes. We repair and replace panic bars, emergency devices, closers, hinges and locks on steel doors across the West Midlands. Repair visits are chargeable, and on fire-rated doors we only fit hardware covered by the door's test evidence.
