What to specify
- Inside release. An emergency release on the inside face so nobody can be shut in.
- Electric sliding. Powered sliding doors that open on demand and close automatically, with full safety devices.
- Impact protection. Protection around the opening helps stop forklifts damaging expensive insulated leaves.
- Thick insulation. Insulation thickness is chosen for your operating temperature, with heavier leaves for freezers.
- Pressure relief. Relief valves to balance pressure after the door closes or during defrost.
Examples of work we can quote for
- Motorising a heavy manual cold store door with pull-cord activation, a safety edge on the closing leaf and photocells.
- Fitting freezer-grade PVC strip curtains behind cold store doors that stand open during loading.
- Adding a heated pressure relief valve to a freezer room where suction makes the door hard to open once it closes.
Safety law for industrial doors in England
Industrial doors in Newquay are covered by the same rules as the rest of Great Britain. On handover you should receive user instructions and, for a powered door, the conformity paperwork, because the installer is treated as the manufacturer when they assemble or motorise it. Afterwards, keeping the door in efficient working order is the occupier's job under the Workplace Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998, which in practice means regular servicing and a written log.
How the work is organised
If your premises are leased, check whether the landlord needs to approve the work. We can provide drawings and product data for the landlord or managing agent before the order is placed.

Your questions about cold store and freezer doors
What safety release do cold store doors in Newquay need?
Every cold store door should open from inside without a key or tool, even when locked from outside. We fit a clearly marked inside release and can add an alarm button connected to a monitored panel.
Why is our cold room door in Newquay hard to open after it closes?
Usually negative pressure: air inside cools and contracts once the door seals. A correctly sized pressure relief valve, heated on freezers, solves this. We check for one on survey and can fit it with a new door.
How much does a cold store or freezer door cost in Newquay?
Our guide price for a sliding cold store or freezer door is £6,495 to £17,995 ex VAT, supplied and fitted. Size, temperature, insulation and electric operation set the final price, confirmed in writing after a free survey in Newquay.
