What we fit in St Austell

Impact protection. Protection around the opening helps stop forklifts damaging expensive insulated leaves.
Pressure relief. We check pressure relief so a tightly sealed room does not suck the door shut.
Heated frames. Freezer frames and thresholds are kept just warm enough that ice cannot form on the seals.
Hygienic finishes. Plastisol-coated steel, stainless steel or GRP for food and pharmaceutical use.
Tight seals. Compressible gaskets pressed against the frame as the door closes.

Examples of work we can quote for

Fitting a hinged chiller door with a stainless steel finish to a walk-in cold room in a commercial kitchen.
Replacing an iced-up sliding freezer door with a new insulated door, heated frame and heated threshold.
Installing a high-speed freezer door in front of an existing sliding cold store door on a busy picking route.

Who is responsible for door safety at a site in St Austell?

In England, two sets of duties meet at a powered door. The installer who supplies or motorises it must hand over a door that meets the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008, tested against BS EN 12453 and documented. The business in control of the premises must then maintain it: regulation 5 of the Workplace Regulations 1992 covers maintenance, and regulation 18 requires upward-opening doors to have a device that stops them falling back and powered doors to have features that prevent trapping.

Keeping your site running during the work

Most installations in St Austell can be phased so part of the site keeps working. We agree access routes, exclusion zones and any temporary security with you before the team arrives, and can work early mornings, evenings or weekends where the business needs it.

Frequently asked questions

Why is our cold room door in St Austell hard to open after it closes?

Usually negative pressure: air inside cools and contracts once the door seals. A correctly sized pressure relief valve, heated on freezers, solves this. We check for one on survey and can fit it with a new door.

Can you replace a freezer door at our St Austell site without losing stock?

We plan the change with you and your refrigeration engineer. Many doors can be swapped in a day, sometimes with stock moved or the plant set back temporarily, so the room returns to temperature quickly.

How much does a cold store or freezer door cost in St Austell?

Our guide price for a sliding cold store or freezer door is £6,495 to £17,995 ex VAT, supplied and fitted. Size, temperature, insulation and electric operation set the final price, confirmed in writing after a free survey in St Austell.
