Options for cold store and freezer doors in Burnham-on-Sea

Thick insulation. Insulation thickness is chosen for your operating temperature, with heavier leaves for freezers.
Heated frames. Heater cables in freezer door frames stop ice welding the seals shut.
Electric sliding. Motorised sliding doors with pull cords, radar or loops and safety edges.
Tight seals. The leaf pulls in against its gaskets on closing so cold air stays where it belongs.
Hygienic finishes. Plastisol-coated steel, stainless steel or GRP for food and pharmaceutical use.

Jobs we can carry out

Renewing worn gaskets and the frame heater on a chiller door that no longer seals properly.
Fitting freezer-grade PVC strip curtains behind cold store doors that stand open during loading.
Adding a heated pressure relief valve to a freezer room where suction makes the door hard to open once it closes.

Powered door rules that apply in Burnham-on-Sea

Burnham-on-Sea is in England, where powered industrial doors fall under Great Britain's health and safety law. Whoever makes a door powered — including converting a manual door — usually takes on the manufacturer's duties under the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008: risk assessment, technical file, conformity marking and a Declaration of Conformity. Once it is in use, the employer or occupier must keep it safe under the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998.

Planning the work around your site

For busy sites in Somerset the work can be split across visits — preparation and framing first, door installation and commissioning second — so the opening is only out of action for the shortest time.

Cold store and freezer doors in Burnham-on-Sea: your questions

Do you supply cold store doors for food businesses in Somerset?

Yes. We supply and fit cold store doors with hygienic finishes for food producers, processors, distributors and commercial kitchens across Somerset, and we talk through your hygiene, cleaning and audit requirements at the survey before recommending a finish.

Why is our cold room door in Burnham-on-Sea hard to open after it closes?

Usually negative pressure: air inside cools and contracts once the door seals. A correctly sized pressure relief valve, heated on freezers, solves this. We check for one on survey and can fit it with a new door.

What safety release do cold store doors in Burnham-on-Sea need?

Every cold store door should open from inside without a key or tool, even when locked from outside. We fit a clearly marked inside release and can add an alarm button connected to a monitored panel.
