What we fit in Kent
- Activation options. Buttons, key switches, remotes, pull cords, loops, radar and access control.
- Matched motors. Direct, centre-mounted, chain-drive or tubular motors sized to the door.
- Safety devices. Safety edges, photocells and light curtains, force-tested to BS EN 12453.
- Manual override. Chain or crank override so doors open during power cuts.
- Interlocks. Airlocks, door-to-leveller and fire alarm interfaces.
Examples of work we can quote for
- Installing an airlock interlock between two high-speed doors so only one can be open at a time.
- Fitting a centre-mounted motor to a roller shutter where a side wall leaves no room at the barrel end.
- Fitting induction loops and an inverter control panel so forklifts can open a busy internal door without stopping.
Who is responsible for door safety at a site in Kent?
In England, two sets of duties meet at a powered door. The installer who supplies or motorises it must hand over a door that meets the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008, tested against BS EN 12453 and documented. The business in control of the premises must then maintain it: regulation 5 of the Workplace Regulations 1992 covers maintenance, and regulation 18 requires upward-opening doors to have a device that stops them falling back and powered doors to have features that prevent trapping.
Keeping your site running during the work
Most installations in Kent can be phased so part of the site keeps working. We agree access routes, exclusion zones and any temporary security with you before the team arrives, and can work early mornings, evenings or weekends where the business needs it.

Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to make a door electric in Kent?
Our guide price for a manual-to-electric conversion is £1,195 to £3,195 ex VAT, including motor, control panel, basic controls and commissioning. Extra controls and safety devices are priced separately, and your fixed price in Kent follows a free survey.
Do automated doors in Kent need more maintenance?
Powered doors need their motors, controls and safety devices checked as well as the mechanical parts, so at least an annual service is common practice, more often for busy doors. Servicing visits are chargeable; the survey for an automation job is free.
Can our door in Kent be automated?
If the door is in good mechanical order and a suitable motor is available, usually yes. We check balance, springs, cables, guides and the curtain or panels on survey, and recommend repair or replacement first if needed.
