Powered door rules that apply in Newcastle-under-Lyme

Newcastle-under-Lyme is in England, where powered industrial doors fall under Great Britain's health and safety law. Whoever makes a door powered — including converting a manual door — usually takes on the manufacturer's duties under the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008: risk assessment, technical file, conformity marking and a Declaration of Conformity. Once it is in use, the employer or occupier must keep it safe under the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998.

How the work is organised

Your questions about industrial door replacement

Can we change door type when replacing at our Newcastle-under-Lyme unit?

Usually, yes, subject to headroom, side room and back room. Common upgrades are single-skin to insulated, manual to electric and conventional to high-speed. We check the space and the structure on survey before recommending a door type.

How long will our opening in Newcastle-under-Lyme be out of use?

The new door is made to measure before the old one is removed, so a single door is usually stripped out and replaced in a day, with the opening secured again by the end of the visit.

Do you replace doors at multiple sites across Staffordshire?

Yes. We replace doors across Staffordshire, including planned programmes covering several sites or a whole run of units, phased so that each site keeps operating normally while its doors are being changed.
