What we fit in Newtown

Colour choice. Choose a colour to suit your building, with a matching hood over the coil if wanted.
Safety devices. Every powered door gets the safety functions its risk assessment calls for and is tested before handover.
Wind locks. Lath end locks for exposed or wide doors to stop the curtain blowing out.
Electric drive. Motor inside the barrel or on its end, with a chain or handle so the door still opens without power.
Controls. From a simple button station to loops and radar, the controls match how often the door opens.

Typical scopes of work

Adding wind locks and a heavier geared motor to a wide insulated roller door on an exposed elevation.
Replacing a corroded single-skin shutter on a heated workshop with an insulated roller door and radio remote control.
Supplying insulated roller doors in one matching RAL colour across a terrace of refurbished small business units.

Who is responsible for door safety at a site in Newtown?

In Wales, two sets of duties meet at a powered door. The installer who supplies or motorises it must hand over a door that meets the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008, tested against BS EN 12453 and documented. The business in control of the premises must then maintain it: regulation 5 of the Workplace Regulations 1992 covers maintenance, and regulation 18 requires upward-opening doors to have a device that stops them falling back and powered doors to have features that prevent trapping.

Planning the work around your site

For busy sites in Powys the work can be split across visits — preparation and framing first, door installation and commissioning second — so the opening is only out of action for the shortest time.

Your questions about insulated roller shutter doors

Does a powered insulated roller door in Newtown need safety devices?

If the door closes automatically or can trap someone, yes. The risk assessment decides what is needed, typically a safety edge, photocells and closing forces tested to BS EN 12453, plus anti-fall protection on heavier curtains.

Is there enough headroom for an insulated roller door at our Newtown unit?

The coil on an insulated curtain is larger than on a single-skin shutter, so we measure the space above the lintel on survey. Where headroom is very tight, the coil can sometimes be fitted outside the opening or a lower-profile option chosen.

Can you replace our old roller shutter in Newtown with an insulated one?

Yes. We recommend a complete new door rather than a new curtain on old parts, and include strip-out and disposal in the quote so the old shutter goes when the new one is fitted.
