Options for hangar and large-span doors in Rhyl
- Load path. Bottom-rolling on floor rails or top-hung from the structure, agreed with your engineer.
- Vertical-lift fabric. Tall openings with little side space can use a fabric door that lifts and folds into a compact stack.
- Refurbishment. Older hangar doors renewed with new wheels, guides, drives and cladding.
- Multi-leaf sliding. Classic hangar doors with leaves that slide on parallel tracks and stack clear of the opening.
- Safety systems. Edge protection, photocells, warning lights, sounders and interlocks.
What this work can involve
- Adding warning beacons, sounders and photocells to an older powered large-span door as part of a site risk assessment review.
- Coordinating floor rail installation with the groundworks contractor before new large-span door leaves arrive on site.
- Fitting a vertical-lift fabric door to a tall vehicle maintenance shed where adjoining buildings take up the side space.
Who is responsible for door safety at a site in Rhyl?
In Wales, two sets of duties meet at a powered door. The installer who supplies or motorises it must hand over a door that meets the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008, tested against BS EN 12453 and documented. The business in control of the premises must then maintain it: regulation 5 of the Workplace Regulations 1992 covers maintenance, and regulation 18 requires upward-opening doors to have a device that stops them falling back and powered doors to have features that prevent trapping.
Keeping your site running during the work
Before work starts we send a method statement and risk assessment, confirm who on site will be our contact and agree where materials and access equipment will go. On shared industrial estates that can mean booking yard space with the landlord.
